Primm Valley Resort & Casino

Pros:I always stop here on my way to Vegas to visit the outlet mall. This is the best of the 3 hotel options as it is attached to the mall. We arrived late and the woman at the check in desk was very nice and helpful. She made sure that we got a room with a King bed - I had requested one, but was down for 2 queens. They have a late check out - noon, so we had time for a good sleep and a gym visit before checking out. They also have the option of free covered parking, so you don't have to leave your car baking in the hot sun while you shop the day away. It is only a short 40 mile drive to Vegas from here.

Cons:The property is really old and it shows it. Many things are closed - not sure if they are renovating, or just closing. The monorail wasn't open and the coffee bar was operating just as bare bones. The rooms are pretty beat up - with all the traffic showing in the furniture and the state of the rugs. The air conditioner produced LOTS of cold air - making the room too cold and they provided only one light blanket - so our sleep was not great. We tried adjusting the a/c, but couldn't seem to warm the room up. While we did have a king bed, there were only 2 small pillows - not acceptable for us. We always have the option of calling for more , and help with the a/c, but they don't keep housekeeping staff late - and when we arrived, we wanted to go right to sleep, as it was about 2 am. The bed itself was comfortable, but everything else made it hard to get a good night's sleep. Our room was fairly clean, but the hallways to the room (and they are LONG) were very dirty - not giving a good impression for what was to come. The room rates had gone up substantially. Traditionally, the rooms ran $25-35 on the internet. This time, they were $55 plus a resort fee of $6. Way to expensive for what you get. The casino floor allows smoking - as do most, but here it is heavy in the air. Most casinos seem to have great exhaust systems that keep the smoke from being too noticeable - not here. Next time, I'll try the casino in Jean and just drive back the few miles to the outlet mall. This hotel is just too delapidated, even for one night.
